CCE Film Seminar - OLPC
Just watching a video at the CCE film seminar, Nicholas Negroponte: One Laptop per Child.
Of course there's a lot to be said educationally, and from today's perspective, we of course know about the failures of OLPC from today's perspective. In one sentence, the project is presented as educational project, but the talk is just about technology, so missed out everything that might need to be considered in terms of education. Even in terms of technology (and infrastructure), total cost of ownership (including maintenance, and network) is hardly touched upon.
However, just looking at the development of the device, the video is interesting video from todays perspective, in terms of technology, it's ahead of the curve: it pre-empted (if only just) the release of netbooks in 2007, and then tablets (e.g. iPad in 2010).
